Sunderland Tips for tonight
Joe Conneely has looked over the three PGR Classic semi-finals with Jonathan Hobbs.
Eight open races at Romford tonight
Two £500 finals at 8.54 (four bends) and 9.11 (six) highlight the London Road card.
The 400m contest has a pair for Dan Brabon on the inside. Guys & Dolls runner-up Dower Pat has the inside of Breaghmore Paudy who was a recent winner in front of the Gone To The Dogs cameras. Fratton Bark got the better of the second named in the opening round for Gemma Evans but a draw in four outside Paul Young’s Shirleys Boy is not ideal. Maxine Locke has the outside pair in Droopys Pharoah and Dannys Gem in a race littered with sub 3.70 sectionals.
The 575m race sees a pair of heat winners for Mark Wallis. Mad For Sterling was quicker than Pepinthestep by 14 spots in the heats, the latter a neck in front of Droopys Bluechip for Gemma Evans. That trio could dominate with Wallis also represented by Cashen Eliza while Paul Young has Jeopardy Jasmine and Bacon Frazzles completes the contest for Paul Burr.

Star Pelaw to host schooling trials
Star Pelaw, owned by Star Sports, has been granted permission by the GBGB to run schooling trials. The start date will be Thursday 5th December and then one Thursday per month thereafter.
The schooling trials will adhere to the rules and regulations set out by the GBGB and is a massive opportunity for young greyhounds in the local area as they no longer need to travel a substantial distance to be schooled, which is the case at the moment.
Not only will it be beneficial for the youngsters, but for those greyhounds coming back from injury. Trials can be booked by contacting the track on 0191 410 2141 or via email at [email protected] subject to space availability.
There is a charge for schooling trials which is £10 per solo trial and £7 per dog in a mixed trial.
Star Sports quotes
Kim Sanzone, Head of Greyhound Racing Operations at Star Sports, said: “We are delighted to be in a position to offer schooling trials at Star Pelaw going forward, it is something I have been wanting to put in place since I was made aware that Star were purchasing the track. I believe this shows further commitment to our trainers as well as the wider greyhound community.”
David Gray, Racing Manager at Star Pelaw, said: “With three GBGB licenced tracks in the local area, the North East has always been a hotbed of British breeding. This will be a welcome boost for trainers looking to school their pups. Jimmy Fenwick, Stuart Ray and Savva Roberts at Newcastle and Jill Sutherst at Sunderland are all well known for the quality of their home-breds and hopefully this will assist with their greyhounds’ education.”
