Say Go to ante post value
Patrick Janssens reckons Druids Say Go is a worthy favourite for the Coral Golden Sprint at Romford where her record is six wins and two seconds from eight starts.
He said: “She is a regular 3.65-3.70 sectional runner, that is without a crash break and capable of 23.60. There are others who might be a bit quicker, but very few of them would be more consistent.
“In my view people get carried away by the dogs who put in a flashy run but put in a stinker in the next round because they don’t break and get things all their own way. I should know, I’ve had enough of them over the years. Those type are of no use to you and they don’t change.
“Say Go is a good consistent genuine railer and I am convinced that she will get 480 in summer going.”
Crafty Shivoo was is second favourite in the ante post market but she has tough task in here. Shivoo is a top class bitch but she is only 10 weeks out of season and this looks a huge task in her first race since.
There has been money for Bombout Bullet and the midmorning 7/4 may well have shrunk further by this evening. It seems inconceivable that the National Sprint winner will not see out the extra 95 metres and he was three lengths quicker than Shivoo when they trialled last Friday.
Betting: 7/4 Bombout Bullet, 9/4 Crafty Shivoo, 5/2 Yahoo Megan, 10/1 Antigua Sun, 12/1 Shirleys Boy, Without Justice
Ante post: 9/1 Crafty Shivoo, 14/1 Yahoo Megan 16/1 Bombout Bullet 50/1 Antigua Sun, Shirleys Boy, 66/1 Without Justice
The layers have Stonepark Champ and Bombay Zero as the first two in the market but this has the look of a race where anything could happen. Stonepark Champ has seven races on his card in England and one in Ireland and judging by last week’s run, he has both pace and plenty to learn.
Bombay Zero showed tremendous railing ability around the first bend last week and a repeat could easily happen. But if there is to be a turn-up, complete outsider Romeo Firebrand is as likely as any to cause it. His record of three wins from 12 races is modest enough, but two of those wins have come from trap one, with another from trap two. He can find himself on the inside of Zero and can step up on that 23.79 (calc) run.
Betting: 2/1 Stonepark Champ, 11/4 Bombay Zero, 10/3 March On Mini, 6/1 Rapido Lady, 13/2 Hopes Knight, 8/1 Romeo Firebrand
Ante post: 25/1 Bombay Zero, Stonepark Champ, 33/1 March On Mini, 50/1 Hopes Knight, 66/1 Rapido Lady, 100/1 Romeo Firebrand
There has been a few bob for Front Alice in this heat – far from the toughest – and much of it may have come from Harlow regulars. Kevin Proctor’s bitch has seven wins from ten, and she is highly rated at her home track. The dangers appear to be in red and stripes but Puppy Cup winner Romeo Crusade appears to find even the 400m on his upper limit while Whitewood Lenny may need the run.
Betting: 2/1 Front Alice, 9/4 Whitewood Lenny, 4/1 Romeo Crusade, 6/1 Sir Oreo, 8/1 Ojay Rocket, 12/1 Seomra Paws
Ante post: 16/1 Whitewood Lenny, 25/1 Front Alice, Romeo Crusade, 40/1 Seomra Paws, Sir Oreo, 50/1 Ojay Rocket
Punters might want to watch a re-run of the Bombay Zero video before deciding on this one. Burgess Coolio but was moving across on the run to the turn. Cunnigar Yousir struggled to hold his line. All of which should give Droopys Eddie a decent run on the ouside. Whether this is his ideal course and distance is far from certain. The fact that he ran King Capaldi to a length and a half says something of his ability.
Betting: 5/4 Droopys Eddie, 3/1 Cunnigar Yousir, 7/2 Aero Convey, 12/1 Roadsea Gun, 14/1 Burgess Coolio, Indian Bob
Ante post: 10/1 Droopys Eddie, 20/1 Aero Convey, 25/1 Cunnigar Yousir, 33/1 Roadsea Gun, 66/1 Indian Bob, 150/1 Burgess Coolio
This is not the toughest of heats and with the ante post favourite going from trap one, she is impossible to oppose. Brinkleys Ginger had a 23.52 run on his card in the Puppy Cup heats but hasn’t backed it up since. The danger to the favourite is her kennelmate in the blue jacket, though she still lacks experience and know-how compared to Druids Say Go.
Betting: 4/7 Druids Say Go, 5/1 Brinkleys Ginger, La Gitana, 10/1 Leaha Salha, 12/1 Leeview Glory, 16/1 Hellofavalentin
Ante post: 13/2 Druids Say Go, 25/1 Brinkleys Ginger, La Gitana, 50/1 Leaha Salha, 100/1 Hellofavalentine, Leeview Glory
Would dispute with the opener as being the toughest of the six heats. It is fabulous to see Cooligold returning to his Monmore Puppy Cup form. He is ‘a proper’ greyhound and can step up on his 23.78 clock if given a clear run. However, at 3/1 Romeo Cypher looks better value. He is possibly better suited to this distance and has the inside line to the bend. David Mullins’ British bred continues to improve and looks well capable of a 23.50 run. Under no circumstances should Super Nova be left out of any tricast bet.
Betting: 11/8 Cooliogold, 3/1 Romeo Cypher, 11/2 Kila Detail, Supa Nova, 8/1 Kilara Roberto, 10/1 Stormy News
Ante post: 8/1 Cooliogold, 14/1 Romeo Cypher, 33/1 Kila Detail, Kilara Roberto, Supa Nova, 50/1 Stormy News
