All three of Mark Wallis’ runners were deserving of their own story from ROMFORD’s Friday night card.
The performance of the night belonged to Aayamza Breeze (Aero Majestic-Kiltrea Ally, Feb 15) in the night’s 750 open. In a race that had three different leaders, the Wallis trained 4-5 favourite did not hit the front until the fifth bend but then opened up a near six length gap to cross the winning line in 46.51 (+30).
To put the run into perspective, the previous fastest run over c&d this year was Roxholme Magic’s match race win in 46.59 (N). The track record is Avit On Bertha’s five year old track record of 46.37 (+60). Even more interesting is that Breeze’s 400m sectional was a ‘mere’ 24.16. With a clear run, she had previously clocked 23.76.
The kennel also produced the night’s fastest 575 when Coronation Cup winner Roswell Romanov (Quail Hollow-Kranky Leona, Aug 14) beat Oakfield Caesar in 34.89. The black’s Romford record over course and distance now reads: Races 30, Wins 21 Seconds 6.
Evens favourite Clondoty Alex (Razldazl Jayfkay-Castlehill Alex, May 13) extended his lead at the top of the open race winner’s table with his 13th victory of the year – from 22 races. He covered the 400m in 23.94 (+10).
