Four Irish runners made it through to the 2016 William Hill Greyhound Derby Final.
Quickest on the clock was Lenson Rocky who took full advantage of his inside draw to hold off Peregrine Falcon for a three length victory in 28.13. Floral Paddy pipped Southfield Jock finished third.
The second semi saw the gallant Hiya Butt lose the last unbeaten record in the event. Hayley Keightley’s dog trapped slower than usual but still managed to lead to the bend. Ominously, Pat Buckley’s brindle Droopys Roddick had trapped better than in the early rounds and it was only a matter of time before he wore down the front runner. With the leader showing the effects of three quick runs, Roddick and Jaytee Jet stormed through to take first and second in a winning time of 28.28.
Final draw 1) Lenson Rocky 2) Cloran Paddy 3) Droopys Roddick 4) Peregrine Falcon 5) Hiya Butt 6) Jaytee Jet (w)
