Spikes Hope made it four wins from his last five races in the final of the Betfred Sprint Trophy over 305 metres at Nottingham on Monday.
Gerry Ballentine’s runner blasted clear from the boxes and came home a length clear of Charlie Lister’s Tiermana Power in 17.89sec.
Ballentine said afterwards: “The dog keep improving and surprising us and had now picked up over £1,300 in prizemoney in the past few weeks.”
Another course specialist Mays Teejay went quicker in an earlier one-off when making all to beat Coolavanny Grace by four and a half lengths in 17.71sec.
Charlie Lister’s Golden Apple landed the final of the Betfred British Bred Trophy over 480 metres.
The daughter of Hondo Black was soon in front but had to battle to see off the persistent Coolruss Alpha by a head in 28.87sec.
Ian Sutherland, assistant trainer said: “Golden Apple goes well here and was runner up in the British Breeders Stakes here last year.
“She’s been off for a while but has come back in good form and battled well to hold off the runner-up who is useful.”
Local runner Glencroft Bolt went fastest in the Betfred TV Maiden Standard over 500 metres.
Peter Holland’s runner made the opening turn in front and went on to beat Ballymac Bertha by two lengths in 30.22sec.
Gerry Ballentine’s Bellinter Vic justified even money favouritism in the second qualifier to lead off the second turn and hold Newinn Damo by a short head in 30.26sec.
Frannie Lenton’s He got Fame went quicker in a one-off contest when blasting out and making all to beat Droopys Fellaini by two and a half lengths in 29.83sec.
