SHARON NICKLIN welcomed in the New Year at Doncaster with what must have been a sigh of relief writes John Forbes.
Her August 2011 son of Droopys Maldini and Donna Dolly, Holdem Dino, had gone 37 races without a win, a barren spell stretching back to last March when he lined up favourite for Doncaster’s first race of 2015 following their winter break.
Hearts may well have been in the mouths of his supporters were he made a slow start, but fears turned to cheers in the second half of the race as he weaved his way through to run out a winner by a length and threequarters.
