Daytime Flyer, a candidate for Sprinter of the Year honours, will have his wings clipped for the next few weeks.
The dog put in impressive displays to land back-to-back major competitions at Sunderland and Sheffield, but subsequently suffered shock defeats at Belle Vue and Monmore and was found to be suffering from tonsillitis and a niggling shoulder injury.
Trainer Peter Wood reports that the dog has had his tonsils removed and the recuperation period from that will be sufficient to repair the shoulder damage, adding that he should be back in action by October.
