Calco Flyer completed an incredible career by leading home his regular travelling companion Clondoty Alex in the £1,000 Front Runner TV Seniors Cup at Henlow.
British bred Calco Flyer (Blonde Snapper-Blonde Fern, Sep 12), who celebrated his fifth birthday last Monday, went into the £1,000 to winner decider with narrowly the fastest heat win (27.60).
He duly led up and was pursued by the dual Cat One winner Alex throughout the entire event, eventually holding on by a length in 27.72.
It was the last race for the pair, Flyer’s 136th, Alex’s 86th, and both are to become family pets.
Flyer won 39 times (28.6%) but missed out in the five category one finals that he contested.
Alex, eight months the junior, won 36 of his outings (41.8%). They included the East Anglian Derby and Golden Sprint.
