Patrick Janssens has revised his plans for the English Derby forecast with Thorn Falcon destined to be his sole entry for the Arena Rcing Company Select Stakes at Nottingham on Monday August 30.

Patrick said: “We will probably trial him there the next two Mondays. But I have decided to send Kilara Lion to Yarmouth for the (75th) East Anglian Derby (to defend his title).

So far the only runner who is a confirmed entry for the invitation event is Pacemaker Ted, though (recent 29.10 500m trialist) Jaguar Macie is scheduled to appear following his Monmore Gold Cup exploits with connections of Signet Ace and Bubbly Bollinger also expected to make their dogs available.

The Select meeting will also include the Select Stayers Stakes and the final of the ARC Puppy Classic which gets underway in 10 days time.

Needless to say, the preparation work has already started for the pups. Monday’s card includes three Classic trialstakes plus the final of a 480m puppy competition, from which all six runners would be eligible for the Cat One event.

The star from the first round was Keith Robins’ Sharkys Jezabelle with a 28.58 (+30) run, quicker even than Juvenile Classic runner-up Anynamewilldo (28.63).

Monday’s card includes Kevin Boon’s Easy Warrior who has 28.30 (480) form at Nottingham and recently beat the highly rated Trumps benefit at Monmore.

However Jimmy Fenwick’s Bellmore Sally, who narrowly missed out on a place in the Juvenile Classic Final and clocked 29.32 (500) on Monday, is not expected to reappear before the first round.
