Fromposttopillar, who may have been kept back for the PGR Kent Derby had the event been originally marketed with a £20K winner’s prize, clocked the fastest time in the opening round of the RPGTV Cowley Puppy Collar at Oxford.
The Liz McNair trained youngster was six spots outside Toolengthstoogud’s track record with an impressive nine lengths win in 26.93. It was a good night for the kennel who picked up a treble with all six runners qualifing for the second round.
Romford Puppy Cup winner Romeo Hotshot was eliminated. Owner Dave Firmager had previously express his concerns over the dog’s lack of knowledge over the course and distance but had been unable to give the dog a sprint between Romford and the first round due to the ‘Four Day Rule’.
