We are through the first five weeks of 2019 and there are some new names heading the various tables of success to date.
In terms of open race winners, a quartet of runners share top spot with four wins apiece. They are Coolavanny Dylan (Kirsty Grayson), Gislebertus (Belinda Green), Swift Biscuit (John Mullins) and Goldies Hotspur, handled by the leading open race trainer thus far, Patrick Janssens.
Hotspur deserves a particular mention given she is the only unbeaten member of the quartet and celebrated her fourth birthday last month.

The open race sires table has a familiar ring to it with Kinloch Brae narrowly holding off Tullymurry Act, the 1-2 in the 2017 stud dog list.
Although the use of frozen semen enables older champs to retain their dominance for longer, the chasing pack have more young runners coming through and a Droopys Jet/Laughil Blake reverse forecast looks a good bet for year end.
Tyrur Big Mike and Superior Product have done exceptionally well from limited numbers of litters.
An interesting aspect about Michael Dunne’s is that although he is as American an mum’s apple pie, his mum’s family trace back to an import called Just Lilly, who was a litter sister to Ballyregan Bob.
The top of the dam’s table is shared by four mums with five winners apiece.
They are: Droopys Loner, Glengall Girl, Slick Sapphire and Yahoo Perlena.
