Biddys Fire, who was a very promising bitch last season until injury brought a halt to her progress, returned to action at Sheffield on Tuesday looking fresh and ready to make her mark again.
A June 2012 daughter of Droopys Scolari and Longford Lady, she last raced when representing the South Yorkshire circuit in the Bags Track Championship final at Nottingham in December where she only lost out by a head after a fierce battle with Bleisce Charm in the first division of the bitches’ 500, but trainer Elaine Parker had her pitch perfect for her comeback.
Starting evens favourite for the sprint open, she led them into the home straight and ran on well to win by a length and threequarters from Ridgemount Gump in 16.12 for the 280 metres and looks ready to make up for lost time.
Mrs Parker says: “She had done some good trials prior to last night and I thought she ran a nice race. She is coming back from a horrendous bad shoulder tear, which she had done twice, and I am just hoping she can get a bit of form back.”
