There was a turn-up in the semi-finals of the IGB Cox Cup semi-finals over 550 yards at Newbridge on Friday when last year’s winner and track record holder Redwood Mick was beaten at odds of 1-2.
Anna Gleeson’s runner held every chance in the race which went to Rastafari Vic.
Jackie Roche’s Rastafari Vic flew out of the five box and made it across to the inside. He eventually beat Black Hawkeye by three quarters of a length in 30.33sec, with the favourite two lengths away in third.
William Finn’s Saltmills Hero went quicker in the second qualifier when leading from the opening turn to hold Hey Biddie by a length in 30.14sec.
