The first ‘Fastest of Year’ table of 2022 and there are already a string of interesting performances.

The fastest 2022 runs to date are in black. The 2021 race distances not yet used are in cyan.  In red are the 2022 wins that are quicker than the best times recorded in 2021. So we are talking Getwiththetimes clocking 39.77 (39.86) for 642m at Central Park, Freedom Whiskey’s 15.72 (15.87) for 280m at Sheffield, and Hather Daisy‘s 42.80 (43.17) over the 720m trip.

Jimmy Gaskin’s bitch is doubly represented, having also gone quickest for 660m at Perry Barr. The Donny connection continues with Danny Beattie’s Afton Pixie quickest over the 483m course at her home track, as well as the 640m course at Newcastle.

The ‘Fastest of 2021’ club who have already laid down their markers for the new year are: Roxholme Biscuit (Crayford 540mH), Front Society (Harlow 592m), Tommys Pluto (Hove 500m), Quo Vadis (Kinsley 462m), Marinas Artist (Pelaw 435m), and Salacres Pippy (Towcester 712m).

Look out too for Houston Main equaling his own fastest sprint of the year at Swindon, and the new 388m trip at Suffolk Downs. The 24.22 run may not even survive the week; there were a number of sub 24.00 trials during qualifying trials.
