Slaneyside Pup (Scolari Me Daddy-Slaneyside Beryl, May 14) produced the stand-out performance at Nottingham on Monday night with a hugely impressive win in the £400 sprint final.
The 4-6f, thanks in no small part to his brilliant 17.63 heat win, made a complete hash of the start and soon found himself in last place.
But he showed excellent pace to force his way through the field and get up close home in a blanket finish.
The time, 18.23 for the 305 metres was understandably nothing special, but Ken Humphreys has a real find in a youngster whose card shows four wins from five outings including a 28.44 run in A1 back at Perry Barr.
Old Joe Golden extended his Nottingham winning sequence to three with victory in the £500 Bookmakers 480 Trophy.
Charlie Lister’s British bred black, 28.35 head winner, was never troubled when repeating his dominance over Salacres Pete by two and a half lengths in 28.90 (N).
