Droopys Reel’s victory in Saturday’s Scurry Final solidified fifth place for Angela Harrison in the Trainers Championship though there are still plenty of targets before the end of the year.

Reel (Azza Azza Azza-Droopys Dorothy, Oct 17) missed out on the Romford Puppy Cup but lifted a second Scurry for the kennel in four years (Walshes Hill 2016) with taking the Belle Vue decider in 15.03.
Victory earned the owners £2,500 in prize money and 20 points for her trainer.
Her assistant Jimmy Wright said: “When we bought her, the Dunphy lads told us that she had great early pace, though there was a question mark over whether she would get four bends.
“We planned to run her in the Puppy Cup and she won well (23.95) but was turned upside down at the drop-off and picked up a wrist injury.
“It was quite serious and we had her scanned, though thankfully there was no bone damage.
“It didn’t really give us time to prepare for Belle Vue but I knew she would improve for every run back.
“She is in a sprint open at Newcastle on Thursday but then the plan is for Nottingham and the National Sprint.”
Jimmy describes the kennel as ‘in transition’ as they view options for the last two months of 2019 and beyond.
For Droopys Live, tomorrow night could be key as she takes her place in the SIS Doncaster St.Leger Final.
A prolific winner in the last two and a half years, the highlights being victory in the £5,000 Cagill Memorial at Sheffield and the 2018 Great North Run, the daughter of Tullymurry Act has won 39 of her 75 races to date.
Jimmy said: “She is four and a half now and if she was to win on Wednesday, we would probably look at retiring her. She was a bit inconsistent early in her career, but has definitely improved as she has got older and has always been top class at her best.”
The kennel have four running at Newcastle on Thursday. In addition to Reel, they have two exciting youngsters in Levante Beach and Droopys Back.
Levante Beach (Droopys Jet-Pots And Pans, Jan 18), who clocked a calculated 27.89 for 480m at Sheffield on debut – goes from trap five in the Mark Lennox Memorial Puppy Final. Droopys Back (Cable Bay-Droopys Alondra, Mar 18) runs in a supporting puppy open.
Jimmy said: “We ran Levante Beach at Belle Vue because he has brilliant early pace. He needs a bit of time to strengthen up over four bends but he looks a very good prospect. Back Up already has 28.52 winning form at Newcastle and is a dog for next year.
“I hope to have both in the Puppy Derby at Newcastle along with a couple of even younger unraced dogs in Droopys Boost and Droopys Dazzler.”
The kennel’s fourth runner on Thursday is one of the best known names on the open race circuit, Droopys Verve.
The 2018 Derby and Eclipse runner-up goes in a 480m open with the kennel considering southern options for later in the year.
Jimmy said: “The dog is in good form at present, but there is no doubting that he has changed his style of running and lost a yard of early pace. The Eclipse is on the agenda next, and we also have a thought about Hove and the Olympic at the end of the year.
“But we are also considering Romford (Essex Vase). At this stage we don’t know whether he would see out the 575 metres, but it must be an option.”
