Central Park’s elderly lighting system inherited from Cearnsport has finally given up the ghost resulting in the cancellation of the forthoming evening meetings including Sunday’s start of the ARC Springbok and Silver Salver. A statement from new owners ARC reads:
ARC can confirm the cancellation of upcoming evening meetings at Central Park Stadium, due to the failure of the floodlight system.
Following liaison with GBGB and trainers, the upcoming Springbok and Silver Salver competitions, along with the scheduled supporting open races will start on Monday morning, 21 March.
With regards ongoing evening fixtures, ARC will work with SIS to make appropriate arrangements whilst the work is undertaken.
ARC Greyhound Operations Director, Rachel Corden, said, “Sadly, we have been left no option other than cancelling upcoming evening fixtures at Central Park.”
“The lighting system at the track has completely failed, and will need to be replaced before evening racing can continue. We are already in the process of arranging installation of a new LED lighting system, which will likely take up to eight weeks to complete”
“We would like to apologise to all of the trainers and owners that this will inconvenience, including those involved in The Springbok and Silver Salver, but we are pleased to at least reschedule both competitions for Monday”
