We have taken the decision this morning to cancel our meetings at Crayford, Romford & Monmore over Thursday, Friday & Saturday this week. The forecast temperatures bring those tracks close to, or over, the 33 degree celsius guideline issued by the GBGB and when there is the possibility of this temperature being exceeded we will not ask trainers to travel and race their greyhounds. The welfare of our greyhounds, trainers, staff & our own colleagues will always remain our priority.
At this stage the maximum temperatures forecast at Hove are significantly lower than elsewhere across the country & we do expect to race in line with our schedule across the rest of the week though will continue to monitor forecasts throughout the week to ensure the planned temperatures do not rise.
