Elwick Glory confirmed her well-being for the up-coming major staying races with another success at Sheffield on Tuesday night writes John Forbes.
The Colin Redden-trained daughter of Westmead Hawk and Killacolla Glory led them into the grandstand straight first time and maintained that advantage to the line where she was three and threequarter lengths clear of Sharp Mover in 38.77 for the 660 metres.
“I have decided against running her in the Yorkshire St Leger,” commented the trainer, “and her target will be the Great North Run at the Newcastle festival.”
The rest of the night really belonged to local handler Elaine Parker, who travelled back to her Goole kennels with five open race winners – Farran Sexton (11-10), Lightfoot Scholar (7-4), Renasup Gene (7-2), Biddys Fire (evens) and Coolavanny Granny (5-4) – and two graded winners – Fabulous Hush (6-4) and Razldazl Godsend (7-4) – snuggled up in the back of the van.
