A people-packed auction room at Doncaster helps 41 greyhounds find new owners at another successful greyhound sale on Thursday..
The latest Greyhound Trader sales took place yesterday at Doncaster and the reports back are of an enjoyable day. A well-prepared running surface and existing sales day knowledge meant that Doncaster were well prepared for the visit of Greyhound Trader and it helped as trials got underway soon after 10am, the auction started at 12.30am and the final greyhound was sold before 4pm.
Under the watchful eyes of GBGB officials Duncan Gibson (Senior Stipendiary Steward), Madeleine Campbell (Independent Director) and Ian Foster (Owners Representative), who were there to learn how a sales day runs, the 24 trials were completed with no complaints and all greyhounds were well cared for the in the warm weather.
Top lot of the day came as no surprise as being Droopys Eimear.
A December 2021 bitch bred Burgess Bucks x Droopys Berry (dam of Bubbly Apache), she impressed all watching with an outstanding 27.98 trial over 450m and the hammer eventually fell to a bid online for £6700.
She will now head to Yarmouth under the care of Kevin Cobbold who has previously had sales success with Wee Fat Mac (£3100 Yarmouth purchase) who is now an Open Race winner at Nottingham.
Also attracting plenty of interest was another from the Dunphy set up in Droopys Croker, who sold for £5600.
A December 2021 dog bred King Sheeran x Droopys Hunch, his 29.91 run was the FTOD over the 483m distance and he sold in the room to David Elcock who is best known in recent times to be the handler of Russian Sammy and Getwiththetimes.
Other notable sales on the day included Droopys Momentum (£4300), Explosiveness (£2800) and Hawkfield Romeo(£2150).
Overall 41 of 47 greyhounds sold at a success rate of 87% for a total of just over £58,000.
The next Greyhound Trader sales will take place at Monmore on Thursday July 13th.
