Our thanks to reader Brent Edwards for drawing attention to Swindon grader Druidswitchcraft. Brent was responding to the ‘oldest grader’ challenge and Druidswitchcraft edges past both Fabulous Sioux (Oct ’08) and duo of Kilkenny Messi and Swift Messi (both Sep ’08).
The Swindon runner was actually born in the July of that year, and what’s more, she actually won last Saturday clocking 30.20 in an A8. In terms of races contested though, the daughter of Tyrur Ted and Druids Judicial has ‘only’ contested 181, some 27 less than Sunderland’s Kilkenny Messi.
The next question is – should greyhound racing not celebrate the achievements of its veterans? ‘Witchcraft’ celebrates her seventh birthday on Saturday July 25 – over to you Swindon . . . .
