Sizzlers Eagle beat his own fastest-of-year clocking in the heats of the Coral 475 at Hove on Thursday. Norah McEllistrim’s runner flew out and made all to beat kennelmate Badmoonrising by just over three lengths in 27.53sec.

Wayne Wrighting’s Woodmancote Teej was almost as impressive in heat three when leading all the way to beat Southfield Noir by almost four lengths in 27.57. Claude Gardiner’s Sporting Rebel gave a start and almost four length beating to Westmead Silvio in heat two to record 27.70sec.

Swift Botha went quickest in the Coral Maiden Sprint heats over 285 metres. Jason Heath’s runner pulled clear from the opening turn to beat Bother Harry by almost three lengths in 16.31sec. Norah McEllistrim’s Independent Jack did 16.44sec in his qualifier, while Paul Thomsett’s Bling Mac clocked 16.64sec in the other eliminator.

 

Doncaster St Leger winner Millwards Teddy clocked 29.88sec in a trial over 515 metres before racing at Hove on Thursday.

Derek Knight’s Mossvale Ace was the other trialist of note when the British bred runner recorded 29.96sec.
