The 32 second barrier was broken for the first time at a flying Shelbourne Park for 600 yards when Laughil Duke landed a heat of the Billy Mulvaney Junior and Senior Memorial 600.
The Derby Plate winner went off a 6-4 chance as the Sporting Press Oaks winner Ballydoyle Honey was the favourite at evens.
Laughil Duke was almost four lengths clear down the far side but the bitch began to reel him in and at the line there was only a head to separate them in 31.91sec, breaking Sparta Maestro’s track record by 19 spots.
Honey’s sister Samiya was a trap to line winner of the third qualifier when holding off Ballyhooley Henry by half a length in 32.19sec.
Derby semi-finalist Highview Apollo was never headed in the opening qualifier when accounting for Vulturi by five and a half lengths in 32.15sec.
Tynwald Rodney landed the fourth qualifier when leading off the second turn to score a four length victory over Swords One in 32.41sc.
Droopys Latina caught the eye over 525 yards when clocking a rapid 28.05sec.
