Eclipse and Olympic winner Droopys Buick was voted the 2016 Greyhound of the Year. Owned by the Conlon Family and trained by Jimmy Wright, the son of Yeah man and Droopys Hilda was only beaten five times in 18 races. Those turn-overs including a second place in the Select Stakes, fourth in the Monmore Gold Cup and Racing Post Juvenile and fifth in the Scottish Derby. He duly landed the Standard Distance Greyhound of the Year.

There was a double for the kennel when the recently retired Walshes Hill carried off the Top Sprinter award. There was also a double for the Wallis Kennel when Domino Storm was voted Top Bitch and Ferryforth Fran collected the Stayer of the Year award.

Roxholme Magic’s eight and ten bend exploits earned her the marathon award, Springbok/Grand National winner Ballymac Manix took the Hurdler of the Year title. The Patrick Janssens bred Badabing was Top British Bred Greyhound while Bubbly Bluebird was the biggest cert of the night as Best Newcomber
