SLANEYSIDE DRIVER, who showed that he was not short of a bit of early toe when winning his only two starts in Ireland at Thurles, scored his first success on these shores at Sheffield on Monday writes John Forbes.
The son of Scolari Me Daddy and Jane Of Arc had been given his debut over 480 metres last month, but was well beaten after getting caught up in traffic.
Given time to get over that negative experience and dropped back to 280 metres by trainer Elaine Parker, he reeled in the favourite Tarbrook Storm at the halfway mark and kept going to score a length success in a calculated 16.28 (-30).
Whelped in July 2013, Slaneyside Driver has time very much on his side and should clock up a few more victories round Owlerton.
