Declan Connelly – the former Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent who went on to head the GBGB’s disciplinary arm has resigned. A statement from GBGB reads:
GBGB Director of Regulation, Declan Donnelly has announced his resignation and will leave the Board at the end of July. Donnelly has been in his post since the inception of the GBGB in January 2009 and has overseen the body’s regulatory and disciplinary functions.
GBGB Chief Executive Barry Faulkner said: “The Greyhound Board is deeply indebted to Declan for advancing and improving its regulatory function during a difficult period for the sport. His integrity, commitment and work ethic are second to none and he has been a great help to me in our time working together. He has been constant source of sage advice and has played the major part in ensuring that the disciplinary processes at the Board, which underpin the integrity of our great sport, are organised and managed on a basis that is a match for any sport. He will certainly be a hard act to follow and we wish him the very best for the future.”
Donnelly commented: “My thanks go to Barry and all the team at GBGB for their support and hard work over the years whilst I have been Director of Regulation. Without doubt there have been many challenges along the way but I think we have taken them all in our stride and made notable progress in many areas of regulation.”
