Doncaster will monitor entries for their forthcoming minor opens before deciding whether to change the format.
Joint Racing Manager Andrew Morley said: “We have opens scheduled every Monday night. This week, we are looking for maidens over 450, 483 and 661 metres, plus a puppy maiden. They would all be on RPGTV, though whether we will fill them, is anybody’s guess.
“We re-introduced the minor opens in June, but we’ve struggled, like most other tracks. Trainers aren’t as keen to travel as they once were and of course there is a prize money issue. We are paying £200 to the winners with £50 for others, but our A1s are now worth £170 to the winner. With all the tracks having put the prize money up, there isn’t a lot of incentive.
“There are some discussions due to take place shortly about possibly introducing some two-run competitions. Whether they would make any difference, I’m not really sure. In terms of the big events, Covid is still having an effect and sponsors aren’t around.”
