Doncaster are considering their open race options after struggling to fill their first two 18-runner open race competitions of the year.
The Yorkshire circuit are a couple of meetings into their four month summer spell on BAGS and are using the open race runners to support their graded strength of around 120 hounds.
Racing manager Mick Smith said: “We have just about filled the first two competitions, but we have relied on a couple of trainers who like to support the stadium and I don’t like to continually ask the same trainers for more runners.
“I will speak to the owner Ted Watson and decide whether to persevere with the competitions or switch to one-off opens.
“We certainly aren’t the only track who find runners hard to come by, but it is very hard to build a kennel strength when your contract only lasts four months.
“But we will just get on with it. We have had a couple of new trainers arrive, Stewart Tighe from Pelaw and Brian Finn who has a small kennel, though we are consigned to losing David Cooper.
“But we are always keen to hear from any trainer who fancies racing a few greyhounds here.”
