Tyrur Caroline continued her unblemished run through the ECC Timber Oaks for sponsor PJ Fahy at Belle Vue on Friday writes John Forbes.

A comfortable winner in the first two rounds she completed the hat-trick in the opening semi-final where she cut in nicely at the initial turn and set sail for home, crossing the line four lengths clear of Evanta Evita, a finalist twelve months ago, by four lengths in 28.04 for the 470 metres.

But Evanta Evita’s kennelmate Domino Storm picked up the gauntlet seventeen minutes later when she made a lightning start from the boxes and led from trap to line to defeat Roxholme Hottie, who never gave up the chase, by a length and a half in 27.88.

Winning trainer Mark Wallis said: “She’s been a good little bitch all year, she’s got a bit of class, and has a chance in what I believe is an open final.”

On Alert’s return to action has been carefully managed by trainer Hayley Keightley and the dog looked as though he was right back to something like his best in the first semi-final of the ECC Timber Laurels, where he posted a fastest-of-the-night 27.80 as he romped home seven lengths clear of Taranis Bolt.

Millwards Whitey was also impressive in the second semi-final where he was just ten spots behind On Alert’s clock as he accounted for Rock Me Kewell by four and threequarter lengths, while Blakes Turbo completed the round with a shock 25-1 success as he found room up the inside to take a first bend advantage that he turned into a threequarters of a length win over Irish raider Ballymac Ricky in 28.02.

The draw for the ECC Timber Oaks Final is – 1 Bromwich Sue, 2 Tyrur Caroline, 3 Domino Storm, 4 Roxholme Hottie, 5 Evanta Evita, 6 Newinn This Way.

The ECC Timber Laurels – 1 Ballymac Ricky, 2 Blakes Turbo, 3 Millwards Whitey, 4 On Alert, 5 Rock Me Kewell (m), 6 Taranis Bolt (w).
