Ballymac Wild produced the strongest second half performance of a race in the Star Sports/TRC Events & Leisure Greyhound Derby second round.

The figures are produced by deducting the ‘first half’ sectionals, as produced by Mark Pierrepont and published yesterday, against the eventual winning time and Liam Dowling’s powerful finisher came out on top.

Note – all the calculations are produced on actual winning times, not going adjusted clocks. This was done for the reasons that not all hounds are affected to the same degree, depending on their running styles.

With that in mind, it might be worth noting that all of last Saturday’s races were deemed as .10 fast by the racing offices. Similarly, the Friday night of the first round were calculated at -20.

While it will come as a surprise to very few racegoers that Ballymac Wild was at, or near, the top of the table, there may be clues to the future for the likes of Roxholme Sheik, Bockos Belly and Faughan Rebel.

There might also be some indication, depending on the amount of trouble encountered in the two outings, on an improvement in fitness.

As the left column clearly shows though, the fastest ‘second half’ in the Derby to date, belongs to Unlock Unlock, who was actually contesting her first race after producing a litter.

Now that is some race preparation!!

Below the first table is a novelty idea showing using a mix and match concept.

Where the winning time is produced in black, it is simply the best time recorded by that particular greyhound in the two rounds to date.

However, we have ‘mixed and matched’ in some cases to show the ‘potential’ winning time based on combining the quickest first and second half of the races in the two rounds to date.

Once again, all calculations are based on actual winning time with no allowance for going.
