The RPGTV Derby Plate semi-finals were next up with the first of which going the way of Pat Buckley’s Doolin Duke writes Mark Pierrepont.
He’s an extremely pacey greyhound when timing his break right and once doing so here he was never in danger, hitting the line in 29.46 with fully 5 3/4 lengths back to Jimmy Fenwick’s Look Like Power and Richard Yeates Faughan Rebel who was another 3/4 length back in third.
John ‘Ginger’ McGhee saw his Catunda Logan take command of the second semi-final from an early stage, he run well but his winning time of 29.84 was a fair bit back on that produced by Duke.
Vixons Lad took full advantage of the space in behind Logan to run on well for second, beaten at the finish by 1/2 length. Brian Thompson’s greyhound is a strong runner and would have no hesitation in taking advantage if the final got messy at any stage.
