Droopys Cyclone has an opportunity to improve on an incredible year when her most successful son Droopys Verve goes to traps for Saturday’s Star Sports English Greyhound Derby Final.
A winner of two of her six races (best 28.79 Shel Pk), Sean Dunphy’s brood has produced five litters including three by Seamus Cahill’s triple Cat One winner – later exported – Loughteen Blanco.
The Feb ’14 batch included All England Cup runner-up Droopys Five, Grand Prix finalist Droopys Tee and Oaks/Lowther finalist Droopys Two. The repeat mating (Sep 15) featured Droopys Gold (runner-up Puppy Classic, third in Kent Derby), Sussex Pupy Cup finalists Young Lord and Droopys Max, Coral Sprint finalist Lotstoliveupto and Trafalgar Cup finalist Droopys Aussie.
Verve is from the third cross between Blanco/Cyclone and is from the same litter as 28.28 Limerick winner Droopys Biker and Gymcrack third Itsurmate. Other open winners included Droopys Cracker and Droopys Greatest.
Auntie is all about early pace with four members of her Ballymac Vic litter contributing to her 19 wins: Chopchop Hope, Rennie Mac, Stringer Bell and Titus Twins.
Droopys’ Knox, Loner and Twirl complete the domination at the top of the chart for the Portlaw ‘Droopys’. But if there was a prize for ‘top grandad’, it would surely go to Westmead Hawk with four daughters on the chart.
