Clares Rocket goes unbeaten into next Saturday’s Star Sports Greyhound Derby Final as the even money favourite with the sponsors (click on logo above).
Graham Holland’s runner landed the fastest semi final with his best performance to date. Drawn red, he ‘rocketed’ away to the fastest sectional of the event 5.10 and then held off a resilient Tyrur Shay have a length and three quarters in 28.83. Astute Missile finished just over a length back in third.
The first semi went to the 2016 Derby finalist Hiya Butt who led from trap to line. He gamely pursued by Droopys Acrobat thoughout with Seamus Cahill’s runner up getting to within three quarters of a length of the winner who clocked 29.17. Murrays Act ran a terrific race to be beaten only seven spots by the winner.
