Glenn Day survived the hospital pass delivered by Star Sports colleagues Sam and Martin to land the Derby night Punters Challenge.
Glen made his debut representing the Derby sponsors and weighed in with a £50 double of Ballymac Manix (10-11f) and Bubbly Bluebird (4-5f) for a £121 profit on the night. Julie Collier (media) hit the bar with another impressive piece of tipping. Two of her three singles obliged – Dorotas Tiger and Ballymac Manix – with Tyrur Shay costing her the third single and a £25 treble. Over loss of £17.27.
Mike Rowe (owners) had one winner – Bubbly Bluebird – from five single bets with Inch Forward picking up an each way punt at 8-1 in the Dorando Marathon. Net loss £29.
Head in shame for Mark Wallis who went for a £100 straight win on Rubys Rascal who was beaten in the stayers final – but left alone his Derby Invitation and Dorando winners who duly obliged at 7-4 and 2-1.
