If you had bet £10 on each of Jim Daly’s Romford runners in the last fortnight, you would be around £220 in front.
It is just over two years since Team Daly took up residence near Wisbech and the kennel is going from strength to strength.
On Friday night he sent out eight runners for three winners. The previous week, he also landed a treble from just five runners.
One of Friday’s runners was particularly poignant for the kennel with Tyrur Serena (Hondo Black-Kildallon Lee, Jun 13) winning the £500 Maidens Stayers Final in some style in a very decent 35.30 for the 575m.
Jim said: “Serena is owned by Deborah Carson and Steve Dawes. Sadly, Deborah had had cancer for some time and they bought Serena to be a bit special knowing that she only had so much time left. Deborah died about ten days ago and was laid to rest yesterday, so there were some mixed emotions at the track after the race.”
While so many kennels report doom and gloom, Jim and his team are enjoying a golden period.
He said: “When they are all fit, we have about 45 ready to race, including many running graded at Yarmouth. We also have 60 pups, including some very well bred litters including two litters by Ballymac Vic out of Silverview Spot and Silverview Perky.
“Overall, we are absolutely full and I have bought the metalwork for 60-70 new kennels, I just hope we can get planning permission.”
