The Poole racing office have confirmed that the Golden Crest has been extended to 36 runners from the original 24.
Assistant RM Paul Shepherd said: “That has to be just about unique I would have thought. The race doesn’t closer for another hour (midday) and we already have the full quota for a ’36’ with probably only a couple of locals.
“We are assuming that the popularity is due to RPGTV covering the event which means the owners can follow the races without making the journey.”
“Crossfield Giles is back to defend his title and Kevin Hutton has a couple in it, including Forest Chunk. June Harvey has a couple of promising ones in Droopys Alex and Clash.
The £4,000 event gets underway next Tuesday, the semis are the following Tuesday with the final on Saturday April 14. The increased field means that there will be three semi finals instead of two with only the first two to qualify.
Kaan Hughes, kennelhand to leading local trainer Bill Black, has been reviewing the likely runners:
“Here are the thirty-two dogs below that have trialled with dates next to them and sectionals provided after. They are ordered on the date in chronological order of time. It is going to be a good competition and I will be back later this week with a run through this year’s event. Do not forget that there are supporting opens also on the card which can be duplicated if enough entries are there which many would like to see.”
