King Turbo has slipped to joint 4-1 favourite for the Coral Olympic after being beaten in his open heat though assistant trainer Rab McNair remains bullish about the dog’s chances.
On a night where it was honours even between punters and layers, the treble Cat One winner Turbo was one of two 1-3 favourites turned over. He is due to meet the other, Danny Brabon’s Trade Fudge in the semi finals.
McNair said: “Although he was beaten, I can’t complain about the run. Every time he went to go past the gap closed on him. I was hoping for a confidence building run after being KO’s over at Sheffield. We didn’t get that but he did show there isn’t a lot wrong with him.
“I think he has a very decent chance on the draw in the semi finals. I think he can lead up the railers. Danny’s dog is very fast but whether he can lead up and bully Droopys Gold, we’ll soon find out.”
Turbo was beaten by a Matt Dartnall trained forecast with Let’s Be Ready ruining a successful return to racing by the brilliant Cat 1 Rising Brandy.
Fastest of the night was Kevin Boon’s Nans Padjoe who is also drawn in the tough third semi.
