Cornamaddy Jumbo became the first hurdler ever to win the Greyhound of the Year title. Owned by Lil Risky and trained by Mark Wallis, Jumbo won the ‘big three’: the Springbok, Champion Hurdle and Grand National with 13 victories from 23 outings.
Jumbo, who of course landed the ‘Hurdler of the Year’ title, narrowly edged out Newinn Yolo, who landed both the ‘Best Standard Distance’ and ‘Best Newcomer’ awards. In third place for the main title was the Stayer of the Year and Bitch of the Year, Roxholme Dream. Geelo Vegas was voted top sprinter.
Derby winner Salad Dodger was voted British Bred Greyhound of the Year.
