Winetavern Clare produced one of the best performances of the year at Swindon in the Lady Lane Standard Stakes over 480 metres at Swindon on Wednesday.
In a race which featured two Derby eliminations: El Pedro and Boom Boom Hero, a 28.23sec (+20) performer at Wimbledon, the daughter of Head Bound flew out of the boxes and was soon clear to beat El Pedro by two and a half lengths in 28.48sec.
The time was the joint third fastest of the year behind Mark Wallis’s Domino Storm and Liz McNair’s Coolemore Joe.
The victory completed a treble for Peter Swadden’s bitch after an A2 success and a 28.61sec open race win last week.
