There is plenty of open racing to come at Sheffield on the run-up to Christmas and there were one or two pointers towards the forthcoming competitions at the track on Thursday writes John Forbes.
Local trainer Russ Warren has Coolboy Blitz in top form at just the right time and the son of Vans Escalade completed a hat-trick of victories by claiming a Trial Stakes for the Harry Holmes Memorial with a facile success in 28.68 for the 500 metres, while Newcastle raider Jimmy Wright took the other with Droopys Vodka, who won nicely in 28.77.
Elaine Parker dominated the Trial Stakes for the Ryan Holmes Puppy Cup, winning the first of them with Candlelight Dream, a April 2014 son of Ballymac Vic and Droopys Peaches, who claimed a neck verdict in 29.38, while his litter-brother Candlelight F ire, came home a length and a quarter clear in his race in 28.94.
