Painstown Chief continued Paul Hennessy’s run of good form when going quickest in the semi-finals of the 2015 Longford Derby over 550 yards on Friday.
The Vans Escalade dog flew out of the boxes and was clear by the turn. He eventually came home almost five lengths clear of last year’s finalist Whaoo Wheoo in 29.62sec.
Local runner Long Term ran out the winner of the second qualifier.
Francie Murray’s runner started in good fashion and was soon at the head of affairs. He came home three lengths clear of Dark Intentions in 29.84sec.
