Trainer Patsy Cusack, the 2007 Golden Jacket winner with Walk then Line, has decided the time is right for his long serving apprentice to take over the reins and manage the busy 5 meeting a week schedule at Crayford Stadium. Subject to GBGB ratification, Mark Fenwick will take out a Professional Trainers licence and will take over ownership of the kennels with effect from early May. As part of “business as normal” there will be seamless hand over with Patsy being licensed as assistant trainer and no disruption for owners or the track.
Racing Manager Danny Rayment was quick to praise the contribution Patsy has made to the success of Crayford stadium, “He has been a cornerstone of Crayford racing for over 15 years and will be greatly missed. He has provided both quantity and quality in runners during his time with us and in Mark he has developed a worthy successor ” Richard Brankley, Ladbrokes Head of Stadia added, “It is vital for the long term health of the sport that that we see young assistant trainers make the transition to professional trainers in their own right. I am doubly delighted that Patsy has not only afforded Mark this wonderful opportunity but also that he will be remaining within the team with his wealth of knowledge and experience for Mark to call upon.”
