Tony Collett had a night to remember on Friday when Central Park held a meeting in aid of the Canterbury Retired Trust writes Kieran Lifely.

Central Park Standard 480m KARLOW SCOLAR (Droopys Scolari-China Doll Jn 15) 28.94 (3.35)With King Eden and Serenity Spice who both run in the derby heats with different levels of success this wasn’t easy race to call with the bookmakers making King Eden 10/11f and Karlow Scolar 5/4. Local Runner, Aithusa, who has been impressive recently, looked before the race to be the one who would lead. Karlow Scolar, Aithusa and King Eden all evenly broke from the traps with trouble at the first bend the 35kg Karlow Scolar was able to come out of it the only dog not affected he was able top run his own race to win by four and half lengths in 28.94 for owners Mr D Bear and Mr J Proctor.

The local handler sent out six of the eleven winners including all three three opens.

The night itself, wasn’t a fund raiser, more of an appreciation night for those who support the Trust, particularly Lesley Evans who runs the shop in the stadium.

The Trust supporters were on hand for all the presentations.

The fund-raising night has been penciled in for September.

Central Park Sprint 265m LENSON COBRA (Ballymac Vic-Sporting Dame Dec15) 16.23 With Hit the RoadUK who has been winning races away from Central Park and Lenson Cobra winning his last race in a good time in a D1 here it was set up to be a good race and it didn’t disappoint.Lenson Cobra broke last and it was left to Hit The RoadUK to break in front after an impressive win at Crayford but showing strong early pace, Lenson Cobra, was able to get neck and neck at the first bend. In what was a great display of two greyhounds batting to win it was left to Lenson Cobra on the inside of the two to win by a length setting up a nice weekend for Mr L Ponder with his other Lenson, Lenson Blinder, taking the Champion Open at Shelbourne Park. (Please note Tony Collett successfully containing his excitement after six winners  Ed)

Central Park Stayers 642m KENTISH POWER (Dog, Elite State-Paradise Geneva Ap15)With the short run to the first bend Kentish Power entered the first bend third with Corough Maria leading and Ticking Clock second. Showing pace around the second bend Kentish Power moved up to second place two lengths away from Corough Maria. Trying to cut inside at the third bend, Kentish Lad, lost some momentum but he was beaten and down the back straight he powered to the front, never in danger of being picked up. Kentish Power won by six and half lengths for Mr C Pocknell.
