With only three weeks to go before the closure of Wimbledon, Central Park boss Roger Cearns is considering a special evening in memory of the track’s most famous former favourite – Mick The Miller.
The most famous greyhound of all time arrived at Plough Lane shortly after Cearns’ grandfather had completed building the stadium and the Central Park boss fancies staging a tribute evening at the Kent circuit.
He said: “He (WJ Cearns) built half of London including Upton Park, which has given the family a long connection with West Ham. There is lots of Mick Memorabilia around and we might persuade the National History Museum to loan him to us for the evening. I wondered whether anyone would be interested. I actually watched the full hour and a half film Wild Boy recently. It is fantastic and available on Youtube (see below).”
Cearns confirmed that GRA boss Clive Feltham has given him a number of famous trophies though mystery remains as to the whereabouts of the Grand National trophy. Any details please to the stadium on 01795 438438.
