Pat Rosney appears to have a new wonderpup in the kennel following Swift Carter’s 27.46 (+20) trial at Kinsley on Tuesday night writes Floyd Amphlett.
To put the run into perspective, Newinn Yolo’s fastest 462 metre run, going into the semi finals of last year’s Gymcrack was 27.57, though he then clocked 27.33 before being beaten in the final.
July puppy Carter has won one of his four races to date.
Kennelmate Vatican Gurkha clocked 27.63, while Sandra Ralph’s Droopys Genoa was clocked at 27.69.
Stay Loose, the Elaine Parker trained runner mentioned previously, was very impressive over the 268m with a 16.12 trial.
Rosney said: “Carter is owned by a Syndicate headed by Darren Price, who owned take the Crown.
“He is a very good tracker, doesn’t leave much on the track but he wouldn’t need to find much more.
“But I was also thrilled with Gurkha. He made hash of the boxes as you can see from his sectional (21 spots slower), but from line to line was as quick as Carter.”
