Nine years ago Martin White’s Wise Thought (2-5f) went unbeaten through the Betfred Elipse, clocking 29.62 for Nottingham’s 500 metres in the final. On Monday night, Thought’s 21 month old daughter Mrs Chippy clocked the fastest ‘500’ of the year to date with a 29.66 open race victory for the same handler. Starting from stripes, the 10-1 shot was opposed in the betting by Cuba Libre (T1 5-4f) and Dorotas Del Mar (T2 4-1).
The sprint performance of the night was the 17.69 run by Westway Gaga (Ace Hi Rumble-Ballymac Eugenie, Jan 15) in landing the £500 final for Heather Dimmock. There was actually a ‘Gaga forecast’ with Geela Gaga finishing second.
