Baliff Cairo, the defending champion, was back on song in his semi-final of the BAPP Group of Companies Scurry Cup on Saturday. Having only qualified from third place in his heat, he was an easy-to-back 4-1 chance, but he blitzed clear from the three box and made all to defeat Gainstown Storm by a length and a quarter in 15.21 for the 260 metres writes John Forbes.
Trainer Ian Aylward says: “I’m a bit concerned about being drawn in the one. I’d have preferred two or three, but you take what you’re given and I just hope that he can trap as well as he did on Saturday again.”
Charlie Lister’s Tiermana Power also cashed in on a smart break to lead throughout in the second semi, the dog finishing two and threequarter lengths clear of Fred You Go in 15.31.
The Draw for Saturday’s final is: 1Baliff Cairo; 2 Fred You Go; 3Tiermana Power; 4Gainstown Storm; 5 Cloncunny Ardera (m); 6 Brogan Tee Bone (m)
