‘Big Kev’ Hutton does not do bragging. So when he said last week “I am delighted with her preparation and there will be no excuses if we get beat”, it is as close to a ‘lump on’ message as you are likely to get. All the 2-1 was taken and it was as a 7-4 chance that Bull Run Byte went to traps for Saturday night’s £15,000 decider.

Owner Gilbert Anderson said: “I can’t believe it I’m over the moon tonight. She has run out of her skin again tonight. She has been very prolific. We were always hoping that she would get that one box and like go through the competition, when she drew three in the run before I was a bit apprehensive, but when she got one I was happy with the one box.”
Trainer Hutton said: “It is Oaks number three. It’s fantastic my favourite race of the year we had a good team for it. Thankfully she got the drawer on the night. She’s got the full package. She’s got a bit of everything, she starts and she gets this four bend trip no problem at all.”
To put the run into some perspective, Byte equalled her fastest sectional on the way to her fastest calculated time for the new 476 metre course. The track record is held by local runner Cadburys Hero in 27.86 (+30).
Interestingly, 12 of the 13 fastest times over the impressive new 476 metre course were recorded by females.
