Fizzypop Buddy’s heroics in the William Hill St Leger at Wimbledon have earned him the Greyhound Writers’ Association’s Greyhound of the Month award for November.
The dog win his only two starts in the month, the semi-final and final of the stayers’ classic, which extended his winning sequence to five and he saw off the challenge of Irish raider, Droopys Roddick, winner of the RFS Puppy Derby, in the voting to secure the GBGB-sponsored trophy for owner Perry Madden.
Trainer June Harvey says: “It’s was so good to win the Leger and this news is really lovely. He’s gone to Monmore today for the start of the Lol Jones Festival and his programme after that will depend on the weather. It if remains as it is then he might have another couple of runs, but if it turns to ice and snow then I’ll put him away for the winter.”
