The elimination of Roxholme Nidge (1-3) has opened up the 2019 Ted Lloyd Classic Final for Allowdale Bruno to defend his title.
Harry Williams’ blue has only raced a dozen times, and won just twice, including last night’s semi final, since last year’s 10-1 upset. But as the only wide seed, he should gain a clear run around the outside in next Wednesday’s £8,000 final.
To do so, he must repeat his win over Strides Farran, take on a Scottish Derby finalist in Jaguar Jack and then there is the not insignificant matter of three Angela Harrison trained runners including fastest heat winner Velvet Juliet and track record holder Droopys Trapper.
But in a decider with four middle seeds, connections of the dog who turned over King Turbo, King Elvis and Bubbly Bluebird a year ago, won’t be too phased.
